Constitutional changes please<\/p>\n

The proposal by a number of political experts for the
\nimmediate formation of a constitution board, voiced at a national
\nseminar on the amendment of the 1945 Constitution at the
\nUniversity of Indonesia on May 11, 2000, was a very good idea.
\nThis is in consideration of all the political upheavals currently
\ntaking place in Indonesia and the world, such as: race riots,
\ndemocratic dictatorships, terrorism, separatism, fascism,
\ncommunism, coups, economic crises, neocapitalism, neoimperialism,
\neconomic domination\/hegemony, globalization, corruption,
\ncollusion, nepotism, demoralization, the military's dual
\nfunction, mafia in the courts and poverty.<\/p>\n
In Indonesia, these worrying conditions are in principle
\ncaused by the weakness of the 1945 Constitution.<\/p>\n
From the aspect of political science, the 1945 Constitution
\nand all the constitutions in the world for the last 200 years
\nhave used the well-worn Trias Politica management pattern. This
\nis shown by the many upheavals in state management, because
\nhistorically the objective of the Trias Politica was to eradicate
\nmonarchal dictatorships, but now it has given rise to democratic
\ndictatorships.<\/p>\n
Therefore, in order to create a safe, just and prosperous
\nstate, the Trias Politica concept needs to be reviewed. It is
\nhoped that the review will mean the elimination of democratic
\ndictatorships -- that is at the root of all political upheavals
\nin this country -- as revealed in the book entitled Pola Empat
\nJalan Menuju Abad Kebangkitan Islam (Agama-Agama)\/ Perdamaian
\nDunia (Four-road pattern toward the era of Islamic awakening
\n(religions)\/world peace.<\/p>\n
All political experts in Indonesia should immediately get
\ntogether in a constitution board (without first waiting for the
\ngovernment) to immediately lay down the concept for a better
\nconstitution. The concept must be submitted to the People's
\nConsultative Assembly for reference at the soonest possible
\nmoment.<\/p>\n
