Congress on AIDS in Semarang<\/p>\n
SEMARANG: Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health Dedy S.
\nArgadiredja opened a three-day congress on AIDS\/HIV here on
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
The congress, sponsored by the Indonesian Association of
\nHematologists and Blood Transfusion, is aimed at discussing ways
\nof how to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of Minister of Health Sujudi, Dedy said
\nthat the government fully supported the association's efforts to
\npay greater attention to the spread of AIDS\/HIV.<\/p>\n
\"This congress is timely as AIDS and HIV have increasingly
\nbecome a serious problem, which also affects drug addicts, mainly
\nyouths,\" Dedy said.<\/p>\n
He urged participants of the congress to intensify efforts to
\ndisseminate information on the dangers of the disease to the
\npublic.<\/p>\n
The congress was attended by 1,000 participants, including
\ndozens of representatives from European and Asian countries.
