        "content": "<p>Confidence in PDI<\/p>\n<p>From Media Indonesia<\/p>\n<p>It is saddening that the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI)<br>\nobtained very few votes in the recent election. Why is it<br>\nsaddening? PDI may only get 10 seats in the House of<br>\nRepresentatives (DPR). This would inevitably mean that the<br>\npeople's confidence in the party is decreasing. In other words,<br>\nPDI's executive board (a result of the Medan Congress) has failed<br>\nin its mission.<\/p>\n<p>There are various factors which contributed to this failure.<br>\nFirst, the controversial Medan Congress illegally ousted Megawati<br>\nSoekarnoputri as PDI chairwoman. The people questioned the<br>\nlegality of the congress which catapulted Buttu Hutapea and<br>\nothers to the helm of PDI.
