        "content": "<p>Conference on  East Timor<\/p>\n<p>CANBERRA (AFP): Officials of the UN, the World Bank and<br>\nvarious Australian government departments will meet here next<br>\nweek to help businesses plan the rebuilding of East Timor,<br>\nofficials said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>A trade conference organized by the Australian government's<br>\ntrading arm, Austrade, and aid agency, AusAID, will aim to<br>\nprovide a detailed overview of reconstruction requirements for<br>\nthe devastated territory.<\/p>\n<p>It was left in rubble with more than half of its 800,000<br>\npopulation driven from their homes by an Indonesian military-<br>\nbacked campaign of terror that followed East Timor's overwhelming<br>\nvote for independence in the Aug. 30 self-rule ballot.<\/p>\n<p>Austrade said in a statement that the conference would ensure<br>\nAustralian companies were aware of the scale of the<br>\nreconstruction required and how they could participate either<br>\nthrough multilateral organizations or AusAID.<\/p>",
