Condo occupants ask for facilities<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Residents of Mangga Dua Court Condominium in
\nCentral Jakarta have asked the developers of the housing estate
\nto provide them with sports facilities which, they say, they are
\nentitled to under their purchase agreements.<\/p>\n
The residents visited the Consumer Protection Foundation
\n(YLKI) on Saturday to report that the developer has failed to
\nbuild tennis courts, a swimming pool, a fitness center and a
\nmulti-function room as promised.<\/p>\n
Residents spokesman Sudjono said that developer, PT Duta
\nPertiwi, had failed to honor its promise to build the facilities.<\/p>\n
\"The company has even changed the multi-function room into a
\nrestaurant,\" he said.<\/p>\n
According to the Memorandum of Understanding between PT Duta
\nPertiwi and the residents, the residents would collectively own
\nthe land and any facilities in the apartment complex after paying
\noff their apartments.<\/p>\n
The residents have now made all the payments due on the
\napartments.<\/p>\n
Head of the YLKI consumers' complaints department, Sudaryatmo,
\ntold The Jakarta Post on Saturday that the residents rights under
\nthe agreement must be honored, adding that the YLKI would send a
\nletter to the developer in support of the residents' complaint.<\/p>\n
Sudaryatmo said that the State Minister of Public Housing, in
\nhis letter number 11\/APTS\/1994, stipulates that property
\ndevelopers are obliged to hand over all facilities to residents
\nas soon as the latter have completed their payments.<\/p>\n
The marketing director of PT Duta Pertiwi, Aking Saputra,
\ndeclined to comment on the matter when contacted on Saturday.(29)<\/p>",
