Computers for museums<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Following up on a sister city agreement signed
\nin September, the Rotterdam Mayor Ivo W. Opstelten has
\ncontributed four sets of computers and a photocopier to museums
\nin Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The donations were handed over symbolically by Dutch
\nAmbassador Baron Schelto van Heemstra, to the head of the City
\nMuseum and Conservation Agency, Robert P. Silalahi, on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\"I'm very impressed with the enthusiasm of these people. We'll
\ndo what we can do. We're willing to cooperate and to establish
\nlinks with museums in the Netherlands,\" the envoy said.<\/p>\n
Rotterdam is among several of Jakarta's \"sister cities\" based
\nupon agreements that encompass various cooperation programs.<\/p>\n
The computers will be donated to the Maritime Museum, the
\nJakarta Historical Museum, the Puppet Museum, and the Arts and
\nCeramics Museum, while the photocopier will be given to the
\nJakarta Historical Museum.<\/p>\n
The Mayor and Governor Sutiyoso have signed an accord covering
\nthree main areas to maintain their sister-city agreement.<\/p>\n
The accord covers management information systems, waste and
\nriver management, and the revitalization of the city's older
\nsections in the Sunda Kelapa area of West Jakarta, and will be
\neffective for four years from 2001.<\/p>\n
The sister city agreement between the two cities started in
\n1986 and there have been several projects undertaken over the
