Computer market in Indonesia experiences annual increase by 20-30%<\/p>\n
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The computer market in Indonesia continues to increase by about 20 to 30 percent annually in line with the increasing demand for computer in the country, a business executive has said.<\/p>\n
\"The market prospect of computer in Indonesia is bright. Indonesia was the world`s biggest computer market early in 1987, though it dropped since the economic crisis in 1998,\" Henkyanto Tjokroadhiguno, chairman of the Indonesian Computer Assocation (Apkomindo), said here on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He said that despite the drop in 1998, the computer market in Indonesia at present was now increasing annually.<\/p>\n
The Apkomindo chairman said about 60 percent of the computer market in Indonesia was now dominated by local products, namely locally assembled computers.<\/p>\n
However, he added, almost 100 percent of the components of locally assembled computers were imported. \"There are several foreign producers who have established production bases in Indonesia,\" Henkyanto said.<\/p>\n
\"There have been LCD`s factories in Indonesia under Samsung and LG trade marks. Their products can be said local contents. Epson also has the biggest production base in Indonesia,\" he added.<\/p>\n
He said that the government`s support for the development of local products had attracted investors to come to Indonesia.<\/p>\n
