Composer tried for cheating<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A composer and a businesswoman were tried in the
\nCentral Jakarta District Court Wednesday for allegedly
\nembezzling more than Rp 200 million.<\/p>\n
Composer James Freddy Sundah and businesswoman Loeloe
\nPudjiastuti S., director and commissioner of PT Jelang Fajar
\nSejahtera respectively, were charged with swindling Rp 240
\nmillion (US$99,502) from film star Amatul Firdhausya Razak
\n(Firdha Razak) and Fajar Wiryono.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Nurlisma said the defendants planned to use the
\nmoney to finance a musical TV show called Sekitar Musik (Around
\nMusic). James was to be the project chief.<\/p>\n
They claimed the project was planned to be broadcasted in 12
\nepisodes on the private TV station SCTV from March 1995, Nurlisma
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
James persuaded Firdha and Fajar to finance the project
\npromising if it was broadcasted they would get 60 percent of the
\nprofit, he said.<\/p>\n
As director Loeloe said he would submit a weekly-report on the
\nproject's progress, Nurlisma said.<\/p>\n
If the project failed to be broadcast 60 percent of the
\ncapital was to be returned, he said.<\/p>\n
But until June 1995 Firdha and Fajar had nothing about the
\nproject.<\/p>\n
Nurlisma said James promised to return the money to Firdha and
\nFajar but paid Firdha with three bad checks signed by Loeloe.<\/p>\n
Loeloe promised to return the 60 percent using bank credit but
\nthis never happened.<\/p>\n
Nurlisma said the program had never been listed with SCTV or
