        "content": "<p>This incident has left deep sorrow, while also revealing facts about\nthe closure of climbing activities.<\/p>\n<p>The Friday Morning Disaster and the Discovery of Bodies Behind\nVolcanic Sand<\/p>\n<p>Nature\u2019s fury began when Mount Dukono violently spewed its volcanic\nmaterial.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><p>The eruption was recorded on Friday (8\/5\/2026) at 07.41 WIT,\nejecting a plume 10,000 metres above the crater rim.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>The victims who died in this incident consisted of one Indonesian\ncitizen (WNI) and two foreign nationals (WNA) from Singapore.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Through a joint search operation, the SAR team successfully\nlocated the body of the Indonesian victim, initialled E, on Saturday\n(9\/5\/2026) at 14.30 WIT at a point 50 metres from the crater\nrim.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>The search was temporarily halted due to heavy rain, but the\nvictim\u2019s body gradually became visible from behind the pile of volcanic\nsand after the rain subsided.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWhen found, only the part of the victim\u2019s body from the legs to the\nwaist was visible, while the rest of the body was still buried under\nvolcanic sand,\u201d said the Head of the Data, Information, and Disaster\nCommunication Centre of BNPB, Abdul Muhari, on Sunday (10\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The Tragic Fate of 2 Foreign Hikers in Extreme Terrain<\/p>\n<p>After the discovery of the first victim, the rescue team\u2019s focus\nshifted to two suspicious piles of sand near the initial location.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><p>The two Singaporean WNA victims, named Heng Wen Qiang Timothy\n(30) and Shahin Muhrez Bin Abdul Hamid (27), were found dead on Sunday\n(10\/5\/2026) around 13.00 WIT.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>Both were found deceased at a location about 13 metres north of\nthe volcano\u2019s crater rim.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>All the bodies were immediately evacuated to the main post in\nMamuya Village before being transported to Tobelo Regional General\nHospital for autopsy.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>This discovery concluded the joint SAR operation, which involved\na total of 98 personnel.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cBoth victims were at the same spot, pinned under a large rock.
