        "content": "<p>Community center goes French<\/p>\n<p>SURABAYA: The municipality of Ponorogo has decided to revamp<br>\nand expand the town&apos;s &apos;alun alun&apos; (community center) using French<br>\narchitecture, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>Ponorogo regency chief Markum Singodimedjo said he had picked<br>\nup on the idea after a recent visit to France and watched the way<br>\nthey had built community centers there.<\/p>\n<p>Markum said a community center should be able to accommodate<br>\nseven functions at one: as a place of gathering, for ceremonies,<br>\nfor mass prayers, for sports, recreation, study and representing<br>\nthe town&apos;s history.<\/p>\n<p>The town is famed for its reog (traditional Javanese musical<br>\nperformance).<\/p>\n<p>The authorities have invited private companies to donate funds<br>\nfor the reconstruction of the &apos;alun alun&apos; in return for commercial<br>\nadvertisements at designated places in the area, he said. So far,<br>\nthe authorities have collected Rp 300 million, he said, without<br>\ngiving details on precisely how much is needed. (emb)<\/p>",
