Communist symbol sparks panic<\/p>\n
BREBES, Central Java (JP): The solemnity of Pancasila Sanctity
\nDay on Oct. 1 in the regent's office here was tarnished by the
\nmysterious appearance of the communist logo on bureaucrats'
\ncomputer screens.<\/p>\n
Some of the regent's aides could not believe their eyes when a
\nhammer-and-sickle logo, the symbol of the outlawed and hated
\nIndonesian Communist Party, appeared.<\/p>\n
The despised emblem first appeared on the screens of employees
\nin the legal affairs section. Then it showed up on those in the
\nadministrative department and finally in personnel affairs.<\/p>\n
"The logo appeared on a corner of the screens," an employee in
\nthe office supply department told The Jakarta Post. He said that
\nthe symbol had never previously appeared.<\/p>\n
The unexpected presence of the communist symbol was especially
\nsurprising because, like civil servants in other parts of the
\ncountry, Brebes officials had just celebrated the victory of the
\nstate ideology Pancasila over communism in 1965.<\/p>\n
Chief of the sociopolitical affairs section Muhammad Nawir
\nsaid yesterday he would lodge complaint a with the computer
