Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs
(Kemkomdigi) has urged students to prioritise critical thinking when
using artificial intelligence (AI) and not to treat it simply as a
shortcut for completing assignments.

Kemkomdigi Director-General of Public Communication and Media Fifi
Aleyda Yahya stressed that AI should only serve as a learning aid. It
cannot replace the human brain, conscience or instincts.

“If you have an assignment, don’t just ask AI to give you the answer
and then copy it straight away. Ask why the answer is like that, and
check it again. Don’t rely solely on one source,” Fifi said at an OJK
Digiclass event for Sekolah Rakyat pupils in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She emphasised that practising critical thinking would be an
important factor in determining the success of the younger generation in
the future.

“It is easy to use answers from AI, but AI should not be your only
reference,” she said.

Fifi said the policy was intended to help children focus on their
main responsibility—learning—and build healthy social interactions with
the people around them.

According to Fifi, social media can be addictive and significantly
reduce children’s ability to concentrate on their day-to-day learning
activities.

Fifi stressed that the implementation of the Tunas regulation was not
intended to restrict children or parents.

“The Tunas regulation protects us; it does not punish children or
parents. Kemkomdigi is asking platforms such as Meta, Google and others
to be accountable and to work to create a much safer digital space for
Indonesian children,” Fifi said.
",
