        "content": "<p>Common security goal<\/p>\n<p>Japan should urge China to exercise self-restraint.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese and U.S. Cabinet officials in charge of security<br>\nmatters have agreed on the \"common strategic objectives\" in the<br>\npost-9\/11 world. While both Japan and the United States are<br>\nnervous about China's military buildup, China is a neighbor of<br>\nJapan.<\/p>\n<p>If the relations between China and the United States become<br>\ntense, Japan would be adversely affected both politically and<br>\neconomically. As a U.S. ally, Japan should call on China to<br>\nexercise self-restraint in its military buildup to reduce the<br>\nrisk of letting tensions arise needlessly.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Japanese and Chinese leaders are prevented from<br>\nmutually visiting the other country because of Koizumi's<br>\npersistence in visiting Yasukuni Shrine.
