Commodity supplies disrupted, prices on rise<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The price of basic commodities in Jakarta is on
\nthe rise due to a disruption of supplies and the weakening of the
\nrupiah against the US dollar, according to the Jakarta Market
\nInformation Center.<\/p>\n
The Jakarta administration's official website
\nBeritaJakarta.com quoted the center's chief, Dameria Saragih, as
\nsaying on Friday that the disruption of supplies was caused by
\nthe security situation in the capital days before the House of
\nRepresentatives plenary session on April 30.<\/p>\n
According to data from the center, sugar prices in the
\ncapital's traditional markets rose by an average of 3.52 percent
\nin the first week of May, with a high of Rp 4,200 per kilo
\nrecorded at the Pasar Baru, Pasar Anyar Bahari, Tomang Barat and
\nPal Meriam markets, and a low of Rp 4,000 a kilo at the Senen,
\nTanah Abang, Sunter Podomoro and Jatinegara markets.<\/p>\n
The price of rice rose between 0.11 percent and 0.17 percent
\nin the first week of the month, with a high of Rp 3,000 a kilo
\nrecorded at the Grogol, Pasar Minggu and Melawai markets, and a
\nlow of Rp 2,700 at the Pasar Anyar Bahari and Kebayoran Lama
\nmarkets.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the rice stock of the Jakarta chapter of the State
\nLogistics Agency stood at 104,205 tons as of April 26.<\/p>\n
The price of eggs rose by 0.20 percent, with a high of Rp
\n6,300 a kilo recorded at Tanah Abang Market, and a low of Rp
\n6,200 at Pasar Minggu and Kramatjati markets.

Meanwhile, the price of kerosene had been stable at between Rp
