        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chair of House Commission VII Chusnunia\nChalim has expressed appreciation for Apple\u2019s commitment in the\ninvestment agreement for local content in handphones, handheld\ncomputers, and tablets (TKDN HKT) in Indonesia, amounting to US$160\nmillion in cash for the period 2026-2028.<\/p>\n<p>Chusnunia, in her statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, mentioned that\nthey were aware of the news regarding the production of AirTag in Batam,\nRiau Islands, and components for AirPods Max in Bandung, West Java,\nwhich have already commenced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApple\u2019s factory in Batam is the first facility in Indonesia to\nproduce AirTag, a sophisticated tracking device connected to Apple\u2019s\nFind My network, and we have heard that the product has begun exporting\nto the United States,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Chusnunia conveyed that the investment agreement with\nApple promises to establish a new training centre in Indonesia by\nsetting up the Apple Developer Institute.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that based on Minister of Industry Regulation 29\/2017\non Provisions and Procedures for Calculating the Value of Domestic\nComponent Content for Cellular Phones, Handheld Computers, and Tablet\nComputers, there are three schemes that can be used to calculate TKDN\nvalue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt can be the manufacturing scheme, where the company must produce\ngoods domestically; it can be the application scheme, where the company\nmust develop applications used for those products domestically; and it\ncan also be the innovation development scheme, where the company\nencourages innovation to be carried out domestically,\u201d she\nclarified.<\/p>\n<p>Apple, she said, has chosen the innovation development scheme to meet\nthe TKDN HKT requirements in Indonesia. Apple is not required to build\nan iPhone factory or other key iPhone components in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Disparity<\/p>\n<p>The value of investment poured by Apple, she continued, is not yet\nevenly distributed in Southeast Asia. Apple has invested more than Rp256\ntrillion in Vietnam for factory openings and large-scale production of\nproducts such as MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe investment carried out by Apple in Indonesia and Vietnam is\nstill quite disparate. If compared to Vietnam, Apple\u2019s investment\nreaches more than Rp256 trillion and includes factories for products\nlike MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and absorbs 200,000 jobs.\nMeanwhile, in Indonesia, Apple focuses on talent development through\nApple Academy and a commitment of around Rp15.9 trillion for local\nmanufacturing (AirTag\/AirPods),\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>Chusnunia hopes that in the future, Apple will expand its investment\nin Indonesia as a sustainable commitment to the TKDN investment.<\/p>",
