Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) is continuing to
deliberate the Asset Forfeiture Bill and is targeting its enactment by
December 2026.

“We are targeting the Asset Forfeiture Bill to be passed before
December 2026, or at the latest within two sitting periods,” said
Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman in a statement received in Jakarta
on Tuesday.

He said that during the first sitting period of 2026–2027, Commission
III will continue discussing the bill. The law enforcement commission
has scheduled public hearings to absorb public aspirations at least two
or three times a week.

According to Habiburokhman, the enactment of the Asset Forfeiture
Bill requires more time than other laws, including the revision of the
Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) and the Police Law, because its concept
and draft are entirely new in Indonesia.

“It is different from the KUHAP and the Police Law, whose concepts
and old laws already exist. We are determined that this law (Asset
Forfeiture) can further maximise the eradication of corruption,” he
said.

The Asset Forfeiture Bill is included in the national legislation
programme (prolegnas). The draft legislation is currently being
deliberated by Commission III of the DPR.

Previously, Deputy Speaker of the DPR Saan Mustopa said the
institution is striving to complete the Asset Forfeiture Bill this
year.

“This is a priority in 2026, and of course because it is a 2026
priority, we will make maximum efforts to complete it this year,” Saan
said at a press conference on Tuesday (14/7).

Saan also dismissed narratives circulating on social media that the
DPR rejected the enactment of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. He stressed
that the bill has not been removed from the 2026 Priority Prolegnas
list.
",
