JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Chairman of the House of Representatives\nCommission III, Habiburokhman, emphasised that the acquittal verdict for\nvideographer Amsal Christy Sitepu cannot be subjected to legal remedies,\nwhether appeals or cassation.<\/p>\n
This was stated by Habiburokhman while reading the conclusions of the\npublic hearing (RDPU) regarding Amsal\u2019s case at the DPR RI Building on\nThursday (2 April 2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cCommission III of the DPR RI affirms that in handling the case of Mr\nAmsal Christy Sitepu, in accordance with the spirit of the new KUHAP\nprovisions, no legal remedies\u2014whether appeals or cassation\u2014can be taken\nagainst an acquittal,\u201d said Habiburokhman.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, that is the recommendation we will convey to the leadership. We\nwill submit it step by step. And of course, it will receive our\nintensive attention,\u201d said Harli at the DPR RI Building.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Amsal Sitepu expressed relief over Commission III\u2019s\nconclusions, particularly regarding the certainty that the acquittal\ncannot be appealed.<\/p>\n
He conveyed his thanks to all members of Commission III of the DPR\nfor the meeting conclusions reported, including the reminder that the\nacquittal he received cannot be challenged.<\/p>\n
He also admitted that concerns about the possibility of prosecutors\nappealing had been haunting him and his family.<\/p>\n

Previously reported, the Medan District Court panel of judges issued\nan acquittal for Amsal Sitepu in the alleged corruption case involving\nthe production of village profile videos in Karo Regency on Wednesday (1\nApril 2026).<\/p>\n
Presiding Judge Mohammad Yusafrihardi Girsang stated that Amsal was\nnot proven guilty, either in the primary or subsidiary charges.<\/p>\n
\u201cAcquitting the defendant from all charges by the public prosecutor.\nRestoring the defendant\u2019s rights in his capacity, position, dignity, and\nhonour,\u201d said Mohammad Yusafrihardi Girsang.<\/p>\n
The case originated from Amsal\u2019s work as a videographer through his\ncompany, CV Promiseland, in the project to produce village profile\nvideos in Karo Regency from 2020 to 2022.<\/p>\n
