        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of\nRepresentatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Rano Alfath, has urged the\nIndonesian National Police (Polri) to conduct a thorough investigation\ninto the alleged assault that killed AT (14), a Madrasah Tsanawiyah\nstudent in Tual City, Maluku.<\/p>\n<p>In a written statement received in Jakarta on Monday, Rano emphasised\nthat the legal proceedings against the suspect, a Mobile Brigade\n(Brimob) officer identified by the initials Bripda MS, must be carried\nout openly without any attempt to conceal the facts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe demand that this case be investigated thoroughly, transparently\nand professionally. No party should attempt to cover up the facts or\nobstruct legal proceedings. The state must be present to ensure that\njustice is truly upheld,\u201d Rano said.<\/p>\n<p>He also affirmed that transparency is key to maintaining public trust\nin the police institution.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Rano called on investigators not to allow any party to\nintervene in the case, which claimed the life of a minor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also request security guarantees for the victim\u2019s family to\nprotect them from pressure by certain parties during the pursuit of\njustice,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He further reminded that the protection of the victim\u2019s family is a\npriority that must not be neglected. According to him, law enforcement\nofficials are obligated to guarantee the safety and wellbeing of the\nfamily throughout all legal stages in Tual City.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, he instructed that there must be no room for acts of\nintimidation that could deter the victim\u2019s family from seeking\njustice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnsure there is no intimidation of the victim\u2019s family. They are\nentitled to protection and legal certainty. All proceedings must be\nconducted openly so the public can see that justice is truly upheld\nwithout discrimination,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Rano therefore affirmed that oversight of the case would continue\nthrough to trial.<\/p>\n<p>Commission III of the House of Representatives, he stated, would\nmonitor developments in the case on a regular basis to ensure that\nPolri\u2019s commitment to professionalism is not merely a promise on\npaper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe commitment to transparency must be demonstrated through concrete\naction, from the investigation process through to trial. We will provide\noversight to ensure that legal proceedings continue without\nintervention, without pressure, and without compromise on justice,\u201d Rano\nsaid.<\/p>",
