Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) is reportedly\npreparing to establish a Working Committee (Panja) for the Election Bill\nbefore the end of the current session or ahead of the parliamentary\nrecess scheduled for next week.<\/p>\n
This was stated by the Vice Chairman of Commission II from the PDI-P\nparty, Aria Bima. According to Bima, the commission has received\ninstructions to immediately commence discussions on the Bill.<\/p>\n
\u201cCommission II has received information from the leadership that we\nwill decide on the Panja at the end of this legislative session,\u201d said\nBima at the parliamentary complex on Tuesday (22\/9).<\/p>\n
He noted that the commission has received comprehensive input\nregarding several substances within the Bill. Based on records from the\nExpertise Agency, there are approximately 12 to 14 formulations within\nthe Election Bill.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Expertise Agency has identified more than 12 to 14 issues that\nare beginning to be formulated in the draft of the academic paper,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
According to Bima, these formulations will be re-examined as the Bill\nconcerns not only national elections but also regional elections\n(Pilkada).<\/p>\n
\u201cBefore the recess, God willing, the formation of the Panja to draft\nthe amendments to the Election Bill will be ensured,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
To date, several points within the Election Bill continue to draw\nsignificant attention, particularly those concerning Constitutional\nCourt rulings.
