Commission cautions Supreme Court<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The Judicial Commission said here on Monday it would
\nsoon send a letter to reprimand the Supreme Court over the
\nformer's recommendation against judges handling a dispute over
\nthe Depok mayoral election.<\/p>\n
\"Hopefully, the letter will be sent this week,\" commission
\nchairman Busro Muqoddas said.<\/p>\n
He said the letter would admonish the Supreme Court for giving
\na slow response to the Judicial Commission's recommendation that
\nthe country's highest court take firm action against judges of
\nthe West Java High Court who overturned the victory of former
\nforestry minister Nurmahmudi Ismail in the recent election.<\/p>\n
The commission said it found irregularities in the decision-
\nmaking process by the judges when they ruled in favor of
\nNurmahmudi's rival candidate from the Golkar Party.<\/p>\n
\"The essence of the letter is to question why the Supreme
\nCourt has not yet responded to the Judicial Commission's
\nrecommendation issued two months ago,\" Busro said.<\/p>\n
The Depok Election Commission has filed a request for the
\nSupreme Court to review the case against Nurmahmudi of the
\nProsperous Justice Party (PKS). --Antara<\/p>",
