        "content": "<p>Comfortable journey?<\/p>\n<p>During the past week we have witnessed miserable scenes at bus<br>\nterminals and railway stations, with thousands of people queuing<br>\nfor tickets to go home for the Idul Fitri holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Women screaming for their lost belongings and ticket scalpers<br>\noperating with impunity have become commonplace at bus terminals<br>\nand railway stations.<\/p>\n<p>The sad story continues when the people board the buses that<br>\nwill take them home. The bus crews charge them very unreasonable<br>\nfares.<\/p>\n<p>Our question is when such grief will end? The people should be<br>\nable to make safe and comfortable journeys home during the<br>\nholiday season. Unfortunately, the government has yet to offer a<br>\ncomprehensive formula to deal with the annual Idul Fitri exodus.<\/p>\n<p>All the government can do is try and implement routine and<br>\npoorly planned actions.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, private companies have achieved a breakthrough in<br>\nhelping their workers go home for the holidays, providing the<br>\nworkers and their families with a number of buses.<\/p>\n<p>If private companies can do this for the people, why don&apos;t<br>\nnon-governmental organizations, mass organizations and political<br>\nparties do the same? They have managed to deploy people from<br>\nother towns in Java for demonstrations in Jakarta, so it is clear<br>\nthey are able to transport people from Jakarta to their<br>\nhometowns.<\/p>\n<p>-- Koran Tempo, Jakarta<\/p>",
