(ret) Alex Evert Kawilarang, who passed<br>\naway at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in Jakarta on<br>\nTuesday, was buried in Cikutra Heroes Cemetery here on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The funeral was accompanied by a full military ceremony led by<br>\nSiliwangi Military Commander Maj. Gen. Slamet Supriyadi.<\/p>\n<p>Before the funeral, Kawilarang&apos;s body was laid in the<br>\nSoedirman Room at Siliwangi Army Area Command Headquarters on Jl.<br>\nAceh, Bandung.<\/p>\n<p>He was 80 and is survived by his wife Henny Olga Pondaag and<br>\nthree children, Aisa, Edwin and Pearl Kawilarang.<\/p>\n<p>In his funeral speech Slamet expressed his grief, saying that<br>\nKawilarang was a brilliant man and realized the military spirit<br>\nof struggle and heroism.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;His last message was that the Army has to remain true to its<br>\naspirations to struggle with the people,&quot; he said.
