Cobras terrorize citizens<\/p>\n
SEMARANG: Cobras have broken out of a snake farm and slithered
\ninto neighboring offices and houses, sparking terror in the
\nsouthern suburb of Srondol.<\/p>\n
Dozens of residents and office employees have filed complaints
\nwith the police against the management of CV Bumi Makmur, which
\nbreeds and exports the highly venomous snakes to Hong Kong.<\/p>\n
\"We have been working in fear since we saw a cobra in the
\noffice,\" said Bambang Purnomo, an employee of the provincial
\nadministration's archive department next to the snake farm.<\/p>\n
Antara reported that CV Bumi Makmur, which is located on a
\nprime site near public office buildings and a residential area,
\ndenies being in the business of breeding cobras.<\/p>\n
Nonong, a resident, said the cobras have been spotted on the
\nloose and, as far as residents know, not all have been recaptured
\nor killed.<\/p>\n
\"A few days ago, three cobras sneaked into my house. Two were
\ncaptured and one escaped into the ditch,\" he said. (pan)<\/p>",
