Coach criticizes Vietnam's VFF<\/p>\n
HANOI (AFP): One month after dismissing the national team's
\nAustrian coach Alfred Riedl, Vietnam's state soccer bosses on
\nFriday faced a tirade from the country's Olympic coach, German,
\nRainer Willfeld.<\/p>\n
In an interview with the mass circulation youth daily Thanh
\nNien, Willfeld accused the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) of
\nfailing to understand what it took to develop the game in a
\ncountry where interest far exceeds ability.<\/p>\n
\"All responsible people ... and especially members of the VFF
\nneed to understand clearly the work of long-term football-
\nbuilding and need to participate in this work,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Willfeld, whose under-23 Olympic squad is to represent Vietnam
\nin the Asian qualifiers for the 2002 World Cup, called for a
\nthorough overhaul of the state federation so that
\nresponsibilities were clearly defined.<\/p>",
