        "content": "<p>Closer ties with Myanmar<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (AFP): The Thai Rak Thai party, which is set to form<br>\nThailand's next coalition government, plans to forge closer ties<br>\nwith Myanmar, a report said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The Bangkok Post said the party's deputy leader Pitak<br>\nIntrawithayanunt told a senior foreign affairs official that he<br>\nwas in favor of the ministry helping to explore trade<br>\nopportunities with its military-run neighbor.<\/p>\n<p>At a time when relations between the two are under<br>\nconsiderable strain, Pitak stressed the ministry should work to<br>\nensure the situation did not deteriorate further.<\/p>\n<p>A series of violent attacks staged by anti-Myanmar rebels on<br>\nThai soil have soured the bilateral relationship over the past<br>\nyear.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month Myanmar's official press accused Thailand<br>\nof giving weapons and moral support to ethnic rebels along their<br>\ncommon border.<\/p>",
