Over this week the mass media has been running news items
\nabout the seizure of Ecstasy pills by the authorities during
\nraids on Jakarta discos, where the drug was reportedly sold.<\/p>\n
Disco-goers have long been users of Ecstasy, albeit not in
\nsuch an extravagant way as today. It can be said that the
\nmajority of certain disco-goers are on this designer drug.
\nEcstasy is easily available in those places. Visitors will be
\nreadily served in covert ways.<\/p>\n
Disco owners can always say that the drug is not available in
\ntheir establishments and that their venues have been misused by
\ndrug traders. However, it is impossible that they are not aware
\nof the many Ecstasy sellers operating in the discos. I am certain
\nthat the managers know what goes on. They should report it to the
\nauthorities, but, as it is, they prefer to turn a blind eye to
\nthe situation as it happens to be a profitable circumstance.<\/p>\n
Visitors to discotheques are a source of money being poured
\ninto their establishments.<\/p>\n
It would be best if discos, which are obviously marketing
\ngrounds for Ecstasy pills, should no longer be permitted to
\noperate before the younger generation gets totally stupefied.<\/p>\n
