Classical music comes to 'TOP FM'<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A new sound is coming to Jakarta, beginning on
\nOct. 1 at 6 p.m. on TOP FM radio (89.7), says Charles Dean
\nConrad, the radio's programing advisor.<\/p>\n
The music of Bach, Beethoven, Handel and other great composers
\nwill be heard each evening from 6 p.m. until midnight. These
\nsounds will emanate from TOP FM radio's new programing service --
\nRadio Klasik, he said.<\/p>\n
\"Radio Klasik is designed to bring classical music and the
\nfine arts to Jakarta and surrounding areas on FM Radio,\" Conrad
\nsaid in a press release.<\/p>\n
As part of that objective, Radio Klasik will provide free
\nannouncements for non-profit cultural organizations about their
\nscheduled cultural events, he said.<\/p>\n
In addition, Radio Klasik plans to record concerts in Jakarta
\nby various groups for replay at a later date. These concerts
\ncould possibly include the Jakarta Youth Orchestra, the Nusantara
\nOrchestra and visiting professional groups sponsored by cultural
\nand diplomatic organizations.<\/p>\n
Radio Klasik will also explore the possibility of broadcasting
\nconcerts by internationally-recognized orchestras, as recorded by
\nother radio stations throughout the world. A nine-concert series
\nfrom Radio Australia has been scheduled for October, November and
\nDecember. It is hoped that additional concerts from the BBC,
\nRadio France and the Salzburg Festival will also be made
\navailable to Jakarta listeners. (hhr)<\/p>",
