        "content": "<p>Clashes break out in Seram<\/p>\n<p>AMBON, Maluku (JP): Communal clashes broke out in the village<br>\nof Alang Asa Ude on Seram island, in the early hours of Saturday,<br>\nleaving one army personnel dead, a local resident injured and at<br>\nleast 20 makeshift houses burned.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy commander of 731 Kabaresi Infantry Battalion Maj.<br>\nSyamsul confirmed the incident and identified the victims as<br>\nSecond Pvt. Emmanuel Huluk and civilian J. Muskita.<\/p>\n<p>Seram island is located to the north of Maluku island.<\/p>\n<p>The rioters, suspected to have come from a nearby island, came<br>\nto the village when the residents of Alang Asa Ude were asleep.<br>\nThe armed rioters set the makeshift houses on fire and then<br>\nattacked the panic-stricken residents.<\/p>\n<p>In February, the village was also attacked by an unknown armed<br>\ngroup during which houses were burned. Since then, the residents<br>\nhave had to live in makeshift shelters.<\/p>\n<p>According to Syamsul, his 20-personnel-strong troop were<br>\ninvolved in a 15-minute-long gunfight with the rioters in order<br>\nto drive them out of the village.
