Civil servants attitude<\/p>\n
The different views expressed by senior officials regarding
\nthe attitude of civil servants have added to the confusion in the
\nmatter. I share former home minister Rudini's opinion that civil
\nservants should not vote for PPP, Golkar or PDI. Civil servants
\nshould not side with any of the three parties because in their
\nfunction they serve the nation's and the people's interest. They
\nshould not be subject to or affected by any future political
\nchange.<\/p>\n
If civil servants remain neutral, the prolonged and endless
\ndebates on their attitude on voting will cease.<\/p>\n
I concur with the opinion that Golkar is not a political
\nparty. It was initially meant to represent the civil service
\n(group representatives) in the House of Representatives and the
\nPeople's Consultative Assembly such as the Armed Forces and
\nRegional Representatives.<\/p>\n
Since the government has recognized PPP, Golkar and PDI as
\nnational assets, it should treat them on an equal basis, without
\nany discrimination. Besides, the government should be transparent
\nin fulfilling its tasks and duties in the interest of all people
\nregardless of their politics.<\/p>\n
I am quite aware that the above is not easy for the government
\nto realize, but since it is logical and objective, and reflects
\nmature thinking, it is worth considering to attain justice in
\nboth the political and economic fields.<\/p>\n
