City takes down another billboard<\/p>\n
The Jakarta Revenue Agency removed another unlicensed billboard
\nfrom along Sedyatmo toll road on Friday.<\/p>\n
\"We took down one billboard as ordered by Governor Sutiyoso,
\nand my subordinates are now checking along the toll road for more
\nillegal billboards,\" agency head Deden Supriadi announced at City
\nHall.<\/p>\n
The removed billboard belonged to PT Rainbow Cipta Utama.<\/p>\n
Another billboard was taken down earlier this week.<\/p>\n
Deden refused to say how many billboards had been erected
\nalong the toll road, but at least 240 mangrove trees have been
\ncut down to make billboards more visible to motorists on the toll
\nroad, including one promoting Samsung products and housing
\ndeveloper PT Palem Lestari.<\/p>\n
The illegal felling made headlines and irked Sutiyoso, since
\nthe mangroves were part of the Angke protected forest in Kapuk,
\nNorth Jakarta.<\/p>\n
A joint investigative team of the agriculture and forestry
\nagency and the Jakarta Police are quizzing three companies,
\nnamely: toll road operator Jasa Marga, PT Rainbow Cipta Utama and
\nPT Mandara Permai over the illegal felling of mangroves.<\/p>\n
Jasa Marga claimed earlier that it owned the areas along the
\ntoll road, while the city administration insisted that the
\nmanagement of forested areas had been transferred to the city
\nagriculture and forestry agency from the Ministry of Forestry in
\nline with the Regional Autonomy Law. -- JP<\/p>",
