City seeks relocation of arsenal<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The city is seeking removal of the military arsenal
\nbuilt on a 28-hectare site in Pulo Gebang subdistrict, East
\nJakarta, as its position is now too close to residential areas,
\nan official has said.<\/p>\n
Head of the City Environmental Management Agency (BPLHD)
\nKosasih Wirahadikusumah said on Tuesday that the city proposal
\nhad been approved by a small team tasked with studying the
\npossibility of removing the store.<\/p>\n
Kosasih, who led the team comprising representatives from the
\nmilitary and city administration, said that the team had not yet
\nrecommended a new location for the arsenal. It's up to the
\nmilitary to take a decision on that,\" he said.<\/p>\n
The city administration also plans to build a bus terminal in
\nPulo Gebang to replace the one at Pulo Gadung, which is regarded
\nas too cramped and causes traffic congestion. The development of
\nthe terminal project was also being delayed due to the presence

JAKARTA: The Tangerang regency administration plans to build a
\n20-hectare sports complex near Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) housing
\nestate in Pagedangan district of Tangerang regency, regent Ismet
\nIskandar said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The newly elected regent said that the sports complex was
\nexpected to be an alternative to the Gelora Bung Karno Sports
\nComplex at Senayan, South Jakarta and would host various national
\nand international sports events.<\/p>\n
According to Ismet, PT Bumi Serpong Damai, the developer of
\nthe BSD housing estate has provided 20 hectares of land as part
\nof its obligation to allocate 20 percent of its total area for
\ndeveloping facilities for the local community.<\/p>\n
He said the construction of the sports complex, was expected
\nto start in 2004.
\n \"We've got the land, but the problem now is that we are still
\nlooking for private investors because we have no funds to finance
\nit. It could cost about Rp 1 trillion,\" he said.<\/p>\n
However, Ismet promised that if investors were willing to
\nconstruct the new sports stadium, the administration would allow
