City police recruitment<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The city police are offering the opportunity for
\nIndonesian youths to be recruited and trained as noncommissioned
\npolice officers for the 2000-2001 school calendar year, an
\nofficial said over the weekend.<\/p>\n
"The registration and recruitment period will last from Feb. 1
\nuntil Feb. 29, 2000," City police spokesman Lt. Col. Zainuri
\nLubis told reporters in his office on Saturday.<\/p>\n
"The candidates must be Indonesian citizens who are physically
\nand mentally healthy," he said as quoted by Antara news agency as
\nsaying.<\/p>\n
"They must not wear spectacles, either."<\/p>\n
He said the candidates must be over 18 years old and less than
\n20 years old in July 2000, when the training programs will begin.<\/p>\n
Lubis added that male candidates must be 163 centimeters in
\nheight or above, while female candidates must be 160 centimeters
\nor above.<\/p>\n
"Exceptions are for male and female candidates whose high
\nschool final examination (NEM) results have an average of 7," the
\nofficial said.<\/p>\n
The police spokesman said entrance tests will include
\nadministrative screening; parade performance evaluations at
\nregional and national levels; health, physical and mental
\nevaluations; as well as psychological and academic assessments.<\/p>\n
"Any interested youths should register directly at the city
\npolice headquarters' personnel department on Jl. Jenderal
\nSudirman No. 55 in South Jakarta," he said.<\/p>\n
"They must bring their original elementary school, junior high
\nschool and senior high school diplomas. And if they possess them,
\nthey can also bring their original college and undergraduate
\ndiplomas."<\/p>\n
"They must also show their original birth certificates, bring
\nfour copies of a 4x6 black-and-white photograph, their identity
\ncards and a police recommendation of good conduct," Lubis added.
