        "content": "<p>City, investors at odds on monorail route<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>City administration and monorail investors are still discussing<br>\nthe route of the semi-mass transportation system even though<br>\nconstruction is expected to begin in December.<\/p>\n<p>To attract more interest in the scheme investors argued that<br>\nthe monorail would not only transport commuters between Bekasi,<br>\nJakarta and Tangerang but also to other areas of the city.<\/p>\n<p>\"If the monorail only takes passengers from Bekasi and<br>\nTangerang to Jakarta it will be less able to reduce traffic<br>\ncongestion within the city,\" said Ruslan Diwirjo, chief executive<br>\nofficer of PT Indonesian Transit Central (ITC).<\/p>\n<p>ITC was formed to undertake the development of the monorail<br>\nproject. The consortium is made up of Malaysian firm M Trans<br>\nHolding and three local companies, PT Adhi Karya, Global Profex<br>\nSynergy and Radiant Utama.<\/p>\n<p>The administration had proposed a 22.5-kilometer route running<br>\nfrom Bekasi to Jakarta and alongside Jl. Casablanca to Tangerang.<\/p>\n<p>But investors have suggested that the monorail run from East<br>\nto West passing through Pondok Kopi, Kampung Melayu, Casablanca,<br>\nSenayan, Kebon Jeruk, Kedoya, Daan Mogot and Tangerang.<\/p>\n<p>Ruslan said that the route was not fixed yet as it needed to<br>\nbe discussed with relevant officials in the administration.<\/p>\n<p>The investor's concession is also being negotiated with the<br>\nadministration.<\/p>\n<p>Ruslan said that investors were ready to disburse Rp 3.28<br>\ntrillion (US$386 million) into the first stages of the project,<br>\nincluding the construction of stations.<\/p>",
