City Hall renovation<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The renovation of city hall is almost complete
\nand will be finished before June 22, the city's 468th birthday,
\nan official said yesterday.<\/p>\n
Project supervisor Benny Suratna said that the main hall of
\nthe building would be ready in time for the celebrations
\nsurrounding the city's anniversary.<\/p>\n
He said that 150 workers, including wood carvers from Jepara,
\nBlora and Klaten in Central Java, were currently busy on the
\nproject, which is being financed out of a budget allocated over
\nthe past two years.<\/p>\n
Benny said the building's basic architecture was not being
\nchanged in the renovation.<\/p>\n
\"We are not building additional rooms or eliminating parts of
\nthe building or rooms of the main hall,\" Benny said, as quoted by
\nAntara.<\/p>\n
Even the color of the building, he added, would be the same as
\nthe original one.<\/p>\n
He said that for interior decoration the renovators would use
\nvarious items, such as lamps, tables and chairs from various
\ncities throughout Java.<\/p>\n
The renovation of the whole building is expected to be
\ncompleted before Indonesia's Independence day on Aug. 17, he
