The Jakarta City Council is threatened with dissolution after
\nthe capital's military commander, Bibit Waluyo, issued letter No.
\nR\/511-5\/II\/2002 dated July 3, in which he replaced the council's
\nchairman, Edy Waluyo, with Doni Sudarno. To avoid having to
\ndisband, the council must elect a new chairman.<\/p>\n
The election of a new council chairman is important because
\nthe council will soon be involved in the election of a governor
\nand vice governor of Jakarta for 2002-2007 term. The council will
