        "content": "<p>City council insists on public facilities<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): A member of the city council has urged property<br>\ndeveloper PT Super Progress, which is building a housing complex<br>\nin the Pangpanggo subdistrict of North Jakarta, to disclose its<br>\ndevelopment plans regarding the construction of public<br>\nfacilities.<\/p>\n<p>Ratih R. Purnami of Commission D, which is responsible for<br>\ndevelopment affairs said: &quot;Transparency is a must, so as to help<br>\nus prevent any deviations in the construction of the project.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;If the developer is not transparent, who will notice if there<br>\nare any deviations in the construction of the facilities?&quot; Ratih<br>\nasked after a meeting with PT Super Progress executives.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday&apos;s meeting was also attended by representatives of<br>\nthe Sunter Environment and Development Supervision Office.<\/p>\n<p>The housing project is being carried out by the developer, at<br>\na cost of about Rp 14 billion (US$6.36 million), on a 141,984<br>\nsquare meter plot of land.<\/p>\n<p>Of that area, 15,652 square meters are set aside for the<br>\nconstruction of an apartment block, 72,215 square meters for a<br>\nhousing complex, 12,333 square meters for commercial office<br>\nbuildings, 33,748 square meters for the construction of streets<br>\nand a drainage system and the remaining 8,000 square meters for<br>\npublic facilities, such as school buildings and places of<br>\nworship.<\/p>\n<p>Work on the project began in 1992 but the developer has yet to<br>\ndisclose what kind of public facilities it proposes to build<br>\nthere.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;They have to be open about their plans regarding the<br>\nconstruction of the facilities. We have already asked the<br>\ndeveloper about this but the company always replies that the<br>\nplans are still being processed,&quot; Ratih said.<\/p>\n<p>The project, which is being carried out in cooperation with<br>\nthe city administration, is 47.7 percent complete and is expected<br>\nto be wholly finished by the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p>The apartments will be used to accommodate guests of the city<br>\nadministration during visits to the capital.
