City council insists on public facilities<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A member of the city council has urged property
\ndeveloper PT Super Progress, which is building a housing complex
\nin the Pangpanggo subdistrict of North Jakarta, to disclose its
\ndevelopment plans regarding the construction of public
\nfacilities.<\/p>\n
Ratih R. Purnami of Commission D, which is responsible for
\ndevelopment affairs said: "Transparency is a must, so as to help
\nus prevent any deviations in the construction of the project."<\/p>\n
"If the developer is not transparent, who will notice if there
\nare any deviations in the construction of the facilities?" Ratih
\nasked after a meeting with PT Super Progress executives.<\/p>\n
Yesterday's meeting was also attended by representatives of
\nthe Sunter Environment and Development Supervision Office.<\/p>\n
The housing project is being carried out by the developer, at
\na cost of about Rp 14 billion (US$6.36 million), on a 141,984
\nsquare meter plot of land.<\/p>\n
Of that area, 15,652 square meters are set aside for the
\nconstruction of an apartment block, 72,215 square meters for a
\nhousing complex, 12,333 square meters for commercial office
\nbuildings, 33,748 square meters for the construction of streets
\nand a drainage system and the remaining 8,000 square meters for
\npublic facilities, such as school buildings and places of
\nworship.<\/p>\n
Work on the project began in 1992 but the developer has yet to
\ndisclose what kind of public facilities it proposes to build
\nthere.<\/p>\n
"They have to be open about their plans regarding the
\nconstruction of the facilities. We have already asked the
\ndeveloper about this but the company always replies that the
\nplans are still being processed," Ratih said.<\/p>\n
The project, which is being carried out in cooperation with
\nthe city administration, is 47.7 percent complete and is expected
\nto be wholly finished by the end of this year.<\/p>\n
The apartments will be used to accommodate guests of the city
\nadministration during visits to the capital. (31)<\/p>",
