        "content": "<p>City administration to cooperate with universities<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): City administration signed a memorandum of<br>\nunderstanding (MOU) on Thursday with a number of state<br>\nuniversities to conduct joint research into improving services<br>\nfor residents.<\/p>\n<p>\"City administration has to prepare its officials and also its<br>\nresidents with the latest development in science and technology.<br>\nI hope this cooperation can help city administration in doing<br>\nso,\" Governor Sutiyoso said while addressing the ceremony marking<br>\nthe signing of the memorandums at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>\"Universities can use Jakarta as a dynamic living laboratory<br>\nto apply new theory and to acquire new knowledge,\" he added.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony saw the establishment of new cooperation<br>\nagreements with three universities, renewed agreements with two<br>\nuniversities and a renamed agreement with a university, which<br>\nchanged its name. In total, there are 10 universities grouped in<br>\nthe cooperation with the city administration.<\/p>\n<p>The newly established agreements were made with the Bogor<br>\nInstitute of Agriculture (IPB) covering urban forest, farming and<br>\nfishery issues, the Yogyakarta-based Gadjah Mada University (UGM)<br>\ncovering social, economy and city facility issues, and the<br>\nJakarta-based Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic Institute (IAIN)<br>\ncovering religious and women empowerment issues.<\/p>\n<p>The two renewed agreements were made with Bandung-based<br>\nPadjadjaran University (Unpad) and the Bandung Institute of<br>\nTechnology (ITB).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the renamed agreement with Jakarta-based Teachers<br>\nTraining Institute (IKIP) was renamed as the institute changed<br>\nits name to Jakarta State University (UNJ).<\/p>\n<p>Other universities involved in the cooperation are the<br>\nJakarta-based University of Indonesia (UI), State Institute of<br>\nPublic Administration (IIP), State Institute of Administration<br>\n(STIA LAN-RI) and Police Staff College (PTIK).
