        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has\naddressed continued reports of citizens engaging in panic buying of fuel\noil (BBM).<\/p>\n<p>Bahlil reassured the public that the nation\u2019s fuel stocks remain in a\nsecure condition. He confirmed that current reserves are sufficient for\napproximately 23 days, with storage tanks capable of being immediately\nrefilled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur stocks are in a safe condition. 23 days\u2014there is no need for\npanic buying. The 23 days refers to what is currently in our tanks,\u201d\nBahlil stated at the Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (12 March 2026).<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that fuel supply will always be available, as\nproduction and distribution continue unabated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut production continues, we keep producing and supplies keep\nentering. I would ask media colleagues to also convey reassuring\ninformation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding potential increases to energy subsidy allocations, Bahlil\nstated that the government has not yet made precise calculations of the\nincrease amount. He attributed this to ongoing developments in global\ncrude oil prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUp to yesterday, my calculations showed that the average from\nJanuary to now has not exceeded 70 US dollars per barrel. Yesterday it\nwas below 70 USD. Then it rose over the past few days to 80-90, with\nsome at 112 USD per barrel,\u201d Bahlil explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow it has fallen again, below 100 USD. We will see how it\ndevelops,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Citizens have formed lengthy queues to purchase fuel, concerned about\npotential supply reductions due to impacts from conflict in Iran. Over\nthe past week, fuel queues\u2014particularly for diesel\u2014have extended up to\none kilometre in length.<\/p>",
