Citizens flocked to the weekend passport services at the Immigration\nLounge in Pondok Indah Mall (PIM) 3, South Jakarta. Applicants expressed\nthat the service is immensely helpful as it eliminates the need to\nsacrifice working hours to manage passport matters.<\/p>\n
Unlike regular immigration offices that close on weekends, the\nImmigration Lounge at PIM 3 remains operational every Saturday. This\nservice specifically offers an expedited or \u2018same day\u2019 category, where\npassports can be completed on the same day.<\/p>\n
One applicant, Sulis (40), a resident of Cibubur, admitted she only\nlearned about the Saturday service through a colleague. She feels this\nservice is a solution for workers who struggle to find free time during\nthe work week.<\/p>\n
\u201cActually, I didn\u2019t know, because of my work position. It is quite\ndifficult to request permission or leave to renew or create a new\npassport. When searching for regular slots, most are usually full,\u201d said\nSulis when met at the location.<\/p>\n
Sulis described the passport application process as quite fast. She\nnoted that she registered via the M-Paspor application on Friday (4\/9)\nand immediately secured a quota for the following day.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, you register online through M-Paspor, fill in the details, and\nselect a date. After hearing from a friend that there was a Saturday\noption at PIM, I tried applying on Friday for a Saturday slot,\u201d she\nexplained.<\/p>\n
According to her, the on-site process was not complicated and took\nonly one hour. She simply re-registered, had her photo taken, provided\nfingerprints, and then waited for the passport to be completed.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t complicated; it was very practical. After filling in the\nM-Paspor details, we were instructed to pay via a provided link. Once\npaid, we received a PDF to present upon arrival. Then it was just the\nphoto and fingerprints, and that was it,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
Similarly, Ahmad Irfan (32), a resident of Bogor, also utilised the\nSaturday service. For him, the weekend service is very helpful for\nworkers who are occasionally constrained by time during the week.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince Saturday is a holiday, it is very helpful. You don\u2019t need to\nrequest leave from the office,\u201d said Irfan.<\/p>\n
Irfan specifically chose this fast-track service for his upcoming\nUmrah pilgrimage in October. He chose to handle the matter early to\nensure peace of mind.<\/p>\n
Despite facing some issues due to system maintenance on the\napplication, he eventually managed to secure a quota.<\/p>\n
\u201cActually, there was maintenance on the app yesterday. It was\nundergoing maintenance until 12:00 PM, and it hadn\u2019t finished by the\ntime I needed it. So, I came today, though I had registered yesterday,\u201d\nIrfan revealed.<\/p>\n
Irfan expressed hope that other public service agencies, such as the\nCivil Registry (Dukcapil) or the banking sector, could follow the\nImmigration Department\u2019s lead by opening weekend services to assist\nmembers of the public with limited weekday availability.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a recommendation I would make; it is really needed.
