        "content": "<p>Citarum river banks to be cleared<\/p>\n<p>The municipal authorities plan to make a clean sweep of the<br>\nhundreds of shanties and other structures standing along the<br>\nCitarum river bank in Cedeng, Central Jakarta, by the end of this<br>\nmonth.<\/p>\n<p>Chief of the City Public Works Office, IG Nyoman Suwandhi,<br>\nsaid over the weekend that the demolition will be done by<br>\nsecurity officers if the squatters refuse to clear away the<br>\nhovels by themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Quoting City Regulation No. 11, 1988, Nyoman said that<br>\nbuilding structures along river banks is detrimental to public<br>\norder.<\/p>\n<p>\"They have got to go!\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities have already informed the owners about the<br>\nplan and asked them to move from the site on their own several<br>\ntimes. \"They have repeatedly disobeyed our orders,\" he said.<br>\n\"Moreover, their number has steadily grown.\"<\/p>\n<p>Nyoman added: \"We cannot be blamed if we have to demolish the<br>\nstructures.
