Cirebon (ANTARA) - The Agriculture Office (Distan) of Cirebon\nRegency, West Java, is intensifying health inspections of sacrificial\nanimals ahead of Eid al-Adha 2026 to ensure the suitability of meat\nconsumed by the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cInspections are conducted to ensure that the meat consumed by the\npublic meets standards, is safe, healthy, intact, and halal,\u201d said the\nHead of the Livestock and Animal Health Division of the Cirebon Regency\nAgriculture Office, Denny Nugraha, in Cirebon on Friday.<\/p>\n
He stated that these measures are carried out through a series of\nantemortem and postmortem inspection activities at various livestock\npoints and animal sales locations.<\/p>\n
He explained that antemortem inspections are performed before\nslaughter to ensure the animals are in good health, while postmortem\ninspections are conducted after slaughter to guarantee the meat is fit\nfor consumption.<\/p>\n
The activities involve personnel from several Regional Technical\nImplementation Units (UPTD) for Animal Health Centres (Puskeswan),\nincluding Kaliwedi, Tengah Tani, and Ciledug.<\/p>\n
Denny mentioned that characteristics of healthy sacrificial animals\ninclude high appetite, active movement, non-watery eyes, and a clean\nbody condition without emaciation.<\/p>\n
He noted that animals that pass the inspections will be issued with a\nSacrificial Animal Health Fitness Certificate (SKKHK). This\ncertification is crucial given the high volume of sacrificial animals\nentering Cirebon Regency from various regions, such as West Java and\nCentral Java.<\/p>\n
Additionally, he said, Cirebon Regency also serves as a source of\nsacrificial animals for other areas, necessitating stricter animal\nhealth oversight.<\/p>\n
On that basis, his office is implementing disease prevention measures\nthrough vaccination and treatment for animals showing signs of ill\nhealth before they are declared fit.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf there are unhealthy animals, we provide treatment until they are\ndeclared cured and fit, before issuing the certificate,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
To date, Distan has recorded around 500 sacrificial animals\ninspected, with an initial target of 5,000 animals ahead of the\nholiday.<\/p>\n
However, he said, based on previous years\u2019 experience, the number\ninspected could reach up to 16,000 sacrificial animals as trading\nactivities increase ahead of Eid al-Adha.<\/p>\n
