A severe fire engulfed the Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) area on\nCinyosog Street, Cimuning Ward, Mustika Jaya District, Bekasi City, on\nWednesday night (1\/4). The incident is believed to have been triggered\nby a gas leak that caused an explosion at the site.<\/p>\n
Acting Head of the Bekasi City Disaster Management and Emergency\nResponse Agency, Heryanto, stated that the initial suspicion of the SPBE\nfire originated from a gas leak based on information from nearby\nresidents.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are still awaiting the results of the investigation by the\nauthorities. However, initial information from residents mentions the\npresence of a gas odour before the incident,\u201d he said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
In addition to the gas leak, the source of the fire is suspected to\nhave come from an electrical short circuit in the Pertamina SPBE area,\nwhich then triggered the explosion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe preliminary suspicion is that an electrical short circuit became\nthe trigger for the gas explosion, but this is still based on initial\ninformation,\u201d Heryanto added.<\/p>\n
As a result of the explosion, the SPBE facility suffered heavy\ndamage, nearly completely destroyed.<\/p>\n
The fire also caused at least 12 people to suffer burns, consisting\nof nearby residents and SPBE employees. The victims are currently\nundergoing intensive treatment at several hospitals in the Bekasi\narea.<\/p>\n
Bekasi City Metro Police Chief, Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, stated that his\nside is still conducting investigations to confirm the exact cause of\nthe incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe investigation is still ongoing. The impact of the fire also\nspread to residents\u2019 houses and several shops around the location,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The Bekasi City Fire and Rescue Agency deployed around 15 fire\ntrucks, including assistance from Bekasi Regency, to control the\nfire.<\/p>\n
The fire, which occurred around 9:30 PM WIB, was extinguished on\nThursday early morning, followed by a cooling process starting at 1:00\nAM WIB.<\/p>\n
Officials ensured that the fire did not spread to other areas,\nalthough the damage at the incident site was severe.<\/p>\n
To date, the police are still delving into the exact cause of the\nfire, including the possibility of a combination of gas leak and\nelectrical short circuit as the main trigger. The authorities are also\ncontinuing to assess the impact of losses and ensure the condition of\nthe victims suffering serious burns.<\/p>\n
