        "content": "<p>Haikou (ANTARA) - The sixth China International Consumer Products\nExpo (CICPE), the first major international event since the launch of\nisland-wide special customs operations at Hainan\u2019s Free Trade Port\n(FTP), recorded unprecedented international participation this week.<\/p>\n<p>At this year\u2019s expo, international products accounted for 65% of the\ntotal exhibited items, with more than 3,400 brands from over 60\ncountries and regions taking part, according to data released in the\nlatest episode of China Economic Roundtable, a media talk show hosted by\nXinhua News Agency.<\/p>\n<p>According to Zeng Rong, chief economist at Hainan Province\u2019s\ninternational economic development bureau, around 70% of the cruise\nships displayed at the expo\u2019s sub-venue in Sanya, Hainan, came from\ninternational brands.<\/p>\n<p>At CICPE 2026, many leading MCN agencies and top e-commerce platforms\nconducted direct procurement and live-streamed online sales at the event\nsite. To facilitate the sale of exhibited goods, a buyer service centre\nwas established for the first time, utilising FTP preferential\npolicies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough this expo, we aim to bring high-quality products from around\nthe world to China and attract more international brands to make their\nglobal debuts here,\u201d said Zeng.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the buyer service centre, local customs authorities\nintroduced 16 supportive measures for the expo, covering the handling of\nexhibited goods, regulatory services, and simplified procedures. An\nenhanced departure tax refund policy was also announced for overseas\nvisitors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe institutional mechanisms supporting CICPE continue to improve,\nbacked by Hainan\u2019s FTP through increasingly in-depth reforms,\u201d said\nKuang Xianming, vice president of the China Institute for Reform and\nDevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>Kuang emphasised that the expo\u2019s effectiveness will further enhance\nwith Hainan\u2019s expanding openness, adding that Hainan\u2019s FTP \u201chas vast\ndevelopment potential and promising prospects\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Hainan\u2019s FTP launched island-wide special customs operations in\nDecember 2025, enabling the free flow of goods across the island. In the\n100 days since, the port has exempted import duties worth 271 million\nyuan (1 yuan = Rp2,514), added 70,100 new businesses, and seen a 30%\nincrease in foreign company registrations, according to local\ncustoms.<\/p>",
