Chriatians told find strength in Easter<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): As members of the Protestant and Roman Catholic
\ncommunities celebrate Easter this weekend, their leaders in the
\ngovernment are appealing to them to find new strength in the
\nsignificance of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n
The directors general of Protestant and Catholic affairs,
\nrespectively Jan Kawatu and Imam Kusen Mihardjo, sent separate
\nmessages to their flocks on the eve of Good Friday.<\/p>\n
The Easter celebration goes through the weekend and will reach
\nits peak tomorrow, the day of Christ's resurrection.<\/p>\n
\"Easter has not only given spirit and conviction to the
\nChristian community, it is also a source of strength to make new
\nbreakthroughs in improving the quality of life in the future,\"
\nJan said in his message.<\/p>\n
\"Easter has truly created a new history, spirit and motivation
\nto strive to make improvements. Easter is God's answer to the
\npeople and the world that behind death there is resurrection.<\/p>\n
\"Jesus Christ asks Christians to achieve a better life. Are we
\nwilling to answer God's challenge?\" he asked.<\/p>\n
Imam Kuseno said in his message that Christ's pain, death and
\nresurrection were the lessons of the sacred value of life, such
\nas the spirit to fight to achieve noble objectives, the spirit of
\nsacrifice, the spirit of good deeds, loyalty and dedication.<\/p>\n
\"No sacrifice is wasted and all endeavors that are blessed by
\nGod are bound to succeed,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He also urged Roman Catholics to celebrate Easter in an
\norderly and solemn manner. He stressed the need for them to build
\nharmonious relations with people of other faiths in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\"As we live together, we should build communication, mingle,
\nhelp one another, fill one another, give and take for the sake of
\nour common progress,\" he said.<\/p>\n
\"We should look for things which we have in common because
\nthrough this we can better maintain a harmonious and peaceful
\nlife and continue to strengthen national unity.\"<\/p>\n
He said Roman Catholics also should take full part in the
\ngovernment's drive to eradicate poverty. (01)<\/p>",
