\nrecently moved to Jakarta to start his new job finally received
\nhis stuff in a good condition.<\/p>\n
He was lucky he had chosen a good mover. Many people have
\nencountered bad experiences when moving to or from Indonesia.
\nGoods often arrive damaged -- or sometimes not at all -- during
\nthe moving process.<\/p>\n
Many people have also complained about inflated charges. To
\navoid such unwanted experiences, it pays to know that the mover
\nyou have chosen is a reliable one.<\/p>\n
A mistake in choosing your mover might lead to a nightmare
\nthat could affect whole your life.<\/p>\n
A number of moving companies with wide international networks
\nhave operated in Indonesia. They generally serve commercial and
\nresidential clients.<\/p>\n
Commercial moving usually involves the relocation of used
\noffice tools such as furniture, computers, copiers, and boxed
\nitems, while residential moving relates to individual relocation.<\/p>\n
Tigrisda Tiar Siahaan, spokeswoman for moving company PT Crown
\nPacific Jaya which runs Crown Relocations, said consumer
\nsatisfaction is a number one priority.<\/p>\n
\"We have obtained the ISO 9002 certificate for service, which
\nshows that we are serious about providing good service,\" she
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Crown Relocations, based in Hong Kong, opened its service in
\nIndonesia in 1972, and now runs three offices here -- in Jakarta,
\nBalikpapan (East Kalimantan), and Bali.<\/p>\n
She said that Crown mostly catered to expatriates moving to or
\nfrom Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\"We also serve those seeking information about schools,
\nshopping centers, road maps and other things needed by our
\ncustomers,\" she said.<\/p>\n
Crown's customers were also able to track and trace their
\nmaterial via the Internet.<\/p>\n
Audrey Rumengan, head of marketing and promotion of UTS Ritra
\nMovers, agreed that professionalism was the key point in such a
\nservice industry.<\/p>\n
UTS Ritra, she said, \"deals with sea and air freight as well
\nas cargo and container services. Therefore, we run the moving
\nbusiness in a professional way,\" she said.<\/p>\n
In addition, UTS Ritra links with UTS, a Netherlands-based
\norganization of moving companies, which made it reliable in its
\nnetworking all over the world. In Indonesia, UTS Ritra serves the
\nneeds of both commercial and residential customers.<\/p>\n
\"We also extend insurance to our customers who do not insure
\ntheir properties,\" she said.<\/p>\n
She added that, as a full service moving company, UTS Ritra is
\nexpected to have the competence to do almost anything imaginable,
\nyet practical, to successfully move a customer's goods and
\nfurnishings.<\/p>\n

\ncustomer. And, as we are from a group dealing with freight,

Pricing depends on many things, including the type of
\ninventory, quantity, distance, place of origin and destination,
\ncoupled with other elated services such as packing, according to
\nAudrey.<\/p>\n
Most moving companies set their rates based on a per-cubic-
\nmeter equation for domestic services by sea transportation, and
\nkilogram by air. For an example, a domestic service will cost
\nabout US$40-$50 per cubic-meter depending on the destination.<\/p>\n
\"Competition is quite fierce, as demand has begun to come
\nback. But I think each company has its own segment and
\ncustomers,\" said Audrey.<\/p>\n
Tigrisda agreed, saying that during the period when Indonesia
\nwas struck by political upheaval, many expatriates left the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n
\"In such conditions, moving companies might be busier.
\nNow, the market has become active again. It remains slow but
\nsteady,\" she said.<\/p>\n

\nBut be very careful to select a good one. Check for any
\nreference, convenience, time, price, service, comparative
\nshopping, personal customized information, and auxiliary
\nservices.<\/p>\n
