Choice Hotels offers more rooms<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT Choice Hotels Indonesia, the master
\nfranchiser in Indonesia for the Choice Hotels International
\nchain, has opened a new hotel in Batam, in the Riau province, and
\nadditional apartment-hotel units in Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Choice, Dina Herdiana, said yesterday the
\nhotel in Batam, called Quality Resort Batam, would open 50 rooms
\nby the end of the month, during its soft operation.<\/p>\n
The 170-room hotel, located within Batam's waterfront city, is
\nto have its grand opening by mid-1997.<\/p>\n
The four-star hotel is owned by PT Marina City Development.<\/p>\n
Batam, located 20 kilometers southeast of Singapore, has been
\ndeveloped since the early 1970s as an industrial and tourist
\ncenter.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Comfort Suites Yogyakarta, a Choice apartment-
\nhotel in Yogyakarta, earlier this month opened 32 additional
\nunits, bringing a total of 75 rooms.<\/p>\n
The property, owned by PT Sejahtera Garden Resort Hotel, has
\noperated 36 units with a total 80 rooms since 1995.<\/p>\n
The Comfort Suites Yogyakarta planned to open 130 units by end
\nof this year.<\/p>\n
Unlike other star-rated hotels in Yogyakarta, Comfort Suites
\noffered unique facilities -- a combination of a hotel rooms and
\nserviced apartments -- and targeted long-stay guests as its
\ncustomers on a monthly basis.<\/p>\n
Choice, affiliated with the United States Choice Hotels
\nInternational, currently operates five hotels in Indonesia
\nlocated in Pacung and Taman Mumbul (both in Bali), Parapat (North
\nSumatra), Yogyakarta and Bandung (West Java).<\/p>\n
In addition to the Quality Resort Batam, Choice expected to
\nopen later this year four hotels located in Carita (West Java)
\nand Surabaya (East Java), Soekarno-Hatta airport and on Jl.
\nJuanda in Jakarta; three others, in Jakarta, Palembang (South
\nSumatra) and Bogor (West Java) would open next year. (icn)<\/p>",
