"summary": "Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed full confidence in the eventual unification of Chinese and Taiwanese people during a meeting with Kuomintang chairwoman Cheng Li-wun in Beijing, marking the first such visit by a KMT leader in a decade. Cheng urged transcending political confrontations to prevent war and position the Taiwan Strait as a model for peaceful resolution, amid Beijing's escalating military pressures and severed high-level ties since 2016. The visit has ignited debate in Taiwan, with critics viewing it as overly pro-Beijing, while highlighting ongoing cross-strait tensions under President Lai Ching-te.",
