He noted that the number of customers has\ncontinued to increase in recent years as more citizens become familiar\nwith solar technology. \u201cIn the past, customers usually required\ntechnicians to handle solar panel installations,\u201d he said. \u201cNow, many\npeople understand how the equipment works and can complete most\ninstallations themselves after purchasing them.\u201d<\/p>\n
The expanding market includes homeowners seeking backup power\nsources, shop owners striving to reduce disruptions from blackouts,\nfactories seeking a stable power supply, and farmers using solar-powered\npumps to irrigate their fields. Outside of urban areas, traders say\nsolar energy is becoming increasingly common in agriculture, where\nfarmers use solar systems to pump water for irrigation in locations with\nlimited electricity access. For Nusratullah Mohammad Khail, a resident\nof Kabul, the decision to install a solar system was made after\nexperiencing repeated power outages. \u201cIn winter, power outages occur\nfrequently, and during summer, the electricity supply is often\ninsufficient for daily needs,\u201d he said. \u201cThat is why we installed a\nsolar system in our home.\u201d He added that the system has functioned\nreliably and that high-quality batteries can last for years with proper\nuse.<\/p>\n
Nearby, another trader, Haji Qari, said sales typically peak between\nMarch and July, when demand for solar equipment rises across the\ncountry. \u201cHundreds of containers filled with solar products arrive in\nAfghanistan during this season,\u201d he said. \u201c600-watt and 700-watt systems\nare among the most popular because they are capable of meeting the needs\nof many families.\u201d Ahmad, a farmer in a rural district outside Kabul,\nsaid solar panels have transformed how he manages his land. Previously,\nhe relied on diesel pumps or an unreliable electricity supply to draw\nwater from the nearest well. This method was expensive and often\nunreliable.
