        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS \u2014 Chinese Premier Li Qiang began his state visit to\nIndonesia by meeting business figures in Jakarta on Saturday evening\n(24\/5\/2025). During his three-day official visit, Li Qiang will also\nmeet President Prabowo Subianto and House of Representatives Speaker\nPuan Maharani.<\/p>\n<p>Premier Li Qiang arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in\nJakarta at 15.21 local time on Saturday. He was greeted by an honour\nguard lined up at the foot of the aircraft stairs to provide an official\nwelcome. Among those present to receive him were Investment and\nDownstream Industries Minister\/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board\nRosan P Roeslani, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong, and\nIndonesian Ambassador to China Jauhari Oratmangun.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media at the Presidential Secretariat\nYusuf Permana said that upon arriving in Indonesia, Li Qiang immediately\ncommenced a series of official engagements with various parties. He\nattended a meeting with Indonesian business people and entrepreneurs on\nSaturday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The following day, on Sunday, Li Qiang was scheduled to meet\nPresident Prabowo Subianto at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. President\nPrabowo and Premier Li Qiang were to hold a one-on-one meeting followed\nby bilateral talks with their respective national delegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the meeting, the two leaders are planned to witness the\nsigning of memoranda of understanding between the two countries,\nfollowed by a joint press statement regarding a number of discussion\npoints addressed during the meeting,\u201d said Yusuf.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to meeting President Prabowo, Li Qiang was also scheduled\nto hold several internal meetings whilst in Jakarta. The Chinese Premier\nwas set to meet House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani at the\nDPR building in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Yusuf stated that Li Qiang\u2019s visit would strengthen diplomatic\nrelations between the two countries. Indonesia and China have maintained\ndiplomatic ties for more than seven decades and have established\ncooperation across various sectors. \u201cThis visit is expected to further\nstrengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two\nnations,\u201d said Yusuf.<\/p>\n<p>Rosan said Li Qiang\u2019s visit carried enormous potential for\nstrengthening economic cooperation, particularly through the expansion\nof Chinese investment. The focus of this visit was to open opportunities\nfor new cross-sector projects.<\/p>\n<p>Li Qiang\u2019s arrival brought approximately 60 major business leaders\nfrom China. At the business meeting organised by the Indonesian Chamber\nof Commerce and Industry (Kadin), around 100 Chinese entrepreneurs were\nto meet with 100 Indonesian entrepreneurs. The forum was considered\nhighly strategic for driving the formation of concrete new\nagreements.<\/p>\n<p>Rosan added that several new project agreements between Indonesia and\nChina were expected. The projects would involve the business community\nacross various sectors, including state-owned enterprises (BUMN). Areas\nof cooperation to be explored included transport, industrial cluster\ndevelopment, mineral downstream processing, and chemicals. The\ncooperation would also involve synergies between private companies and\nSOEs. Among the projects were railway carriages and electric vehicle\nbatteries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are new projects, and of course we at the Ministry of\nInvestment will oversee them to ensure they proceed well and in line\nwith expectations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding foreign policy issues such as trade relations with the\nUnited States, Rosan affirmed that the primary focus was on deepening\nmutually beneficial bilateral partnerships. \u201cWe will focus more on\ndiscussing the strengthening of collaboration between the two\ncountries,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
