Chinese paintings to be displayed<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A total of 300 oil paintings by 90 Chinese
\npainters will be displayed at the Jakarta Fairground from Nov. 25
\nto Dec. 10.<\/p>\n
The chairperson of the organizing committee, Dewi Motik
\nPramono, said on Saturday that the exhibition is aimed at
\npresenting the best paintings and uniting China's best painters
\nin one exhibition.<\/p>\n
\"Such a masterpiece exhibition rarely happens in China,\" she
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\"Forty-five of the painters are China's first rate artists and
\ntheir paintings are widely appreciated here in Indonesia,\" Dewi
\nsaid. As an example, she cited Ma Hong Dao, whose work was sold
\nfor US$110,000 in an exhibition held here in 1993.<\/p>\n
She added that the exhibition will also feature paintings by
\nFu Guan Gen, who had won first prize in a competition for young
\npainters in China.<\/p>\n
Dewi said that among the senior painters are Ling Qi Ning, Cai
\nLiang and Zhang Zini, who have gained a good reputation in Japan
\nand France.<\/p>\n
Four painters, Chai Ju, Chen Chien Min, Sun Xi Hua and Wu Yin
\nJu, are here to attend the exhibition.<\/p>\n
Dewi said that the prices of the paintings on display range
\nfrom $2000 to $30,000. (yns)<\/p>",
